In recent weeks, our blog has been focusing on the advantages of looking up from our smart phones and socializing more in-person.
To complete the series, we checked in with Timothy Sullivan, and his partner Brian, who live in South Baldwin, NY, and see if, for example, their Bullfrog Spa is helping them connect with others in-person — and more often.
The couple purchased their Bullfrog Spas’ A8L model, along with an automated “Covana” gazebo cover, from Best Hot Tubs about a year and a half ago.
So? Has owning a hot tub inspired them to entertain friends and families?
“Actually it has,” says Timothy. “Ever since we got it, we seem to have more friends. We had a lot of people for hot tub parties over the summer. We have an outdoor movie screen and one night we had about 10 people to watch a classic movie from the hot tub.
“We could handle 10 guests, even though the hot tub seats 6 comfortably, because it’s a good idea to take breaks from it every now and then. So guests will get in and out over the course of the party — especially because I have a tendency to have the water too hot,” he laughs.
Their Covana cover light changes colors and adds to their hot tub entertaining, says Timothy. “When you open it people are like: Where did you get that!? It beats a regular cover so much. It added quite a bit to the price. But we love it. It was worth it.”
Having extra bathrobes for guests is a good hot tub party tip, adds Timothy. (Photo: Bullfrog Spas).
Hot Tubs Events Aren’t Just for Friends and Family
Timothy also entertains business contacts. “I started doing real estate recently as a side job. And I invite my better clients over to spend time in the hot tub — as a way to seal the deal. One client recently was achy, sore, and stressed from moving and selling her home. I knew the hot tub would help the client out, and help me forge a good business relationship.
“My only complaint about my Bullfrog Spa,” says Timothy, “is that I didn’t get it sooner.
“We use it all the time. We spent a year doing research, often feeling pressure from some manufacturers’ agents. But not with Best Hot Tubs. They let us take our time; were always willing to see us; let us have a wet test…whatever.”
Timothy and Brian use their hot tub during every season, not just the summer. They took this photo this past spring.
When the weather is chilly, the couple turns on their fire pit — a great help when people are out of the spa.
Recently they added an extra amenity, an outdoor umbrella heater, which takes the same propane they use for their barbecue.
“It’s a stand up, tree-type and is great if it’s freezing or snowing. We also put a 3M hook on it for hanging our robes.”
Timothy and Brian use their hot tub all year, including holidays. Brian has had back issues and has found regular spa use has helped greatly.
Now. Here’s a terrific video the couple took of their automated spa cover opening up on a snowy day. Wow!
