Super Bowl Trophy
This Sunday’s big game is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. (EST/CBS), but Super Bowl 50’s pre-game coverage actually starts about seven hours ahead — at 11 a.m.
Now, some hardy Long Islanders and Super Bowl enthusiasts, rather than going from bed to couch and lounging for an entire day in front of the television, have splashier plans.
They are polar bear plungers who meet around noon at Riverside Beach in Long Beach, NY, and end their meetup with an ocean plunge at 1:30 P.M. Billed “The Long Beach Polar Bears Super Bowl Splash,” their event proceeds benefit the charity: Make-A-Wish Metro New York.
Chilled to the Bone Polar Plunge Enthusiasts
Now Long Island Hot Tub can’t resist suggesting that a good way to warm up after such a plunge would be a bubbling hot tub soak. Of course, the spa waters will not only warm up anyone who has plunged into the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Add some spa scents and have water and other beverages available near the hot tub to drink. It may seem strange that one gets dehydrated in a hot tub but that can be the case.
