In our posts and blogs we often share our own knowledge and expertise. We thought today we’d share what those who have our portable hot tubs and in-ground custom spas have to say. Whether the project was simple or grand, it’s clear, a hot tub provides a retreat from the hubbub of daily life.

The homeowners of the property shown in first two photos (immediately below) wanted something very special, says the owner of Long Island Hot Tub, Bill Renter. Renter was actually inspired by Disney World when designing a complete retreat for their backyard. He was impressed with how Disney World was a feast for the senses (sights, sounds and smells), and there was always something around the corner.

This couple said they were in awe of their backyard retreat. “You almost don’t want to stop anywhere,” says the husband. “You can’t wait to see what is coming up next. You climb on huge moss-covered rocks, or stroll around the spa waterfall to get to the waterslide, then down a little bluestone walkway, even passing by a stream on the way. It’s spectacular.”

The wife said she loves how their new backyard “resort” offers the thoughtful comforts of many hotel/resort amenities. For example, four embedded umbrella stands are installed in the main tumbled patio. “They are positioned perfectly,” she says. “I just open them for parties or when serving food and get 50 percent shading of the patio area. Or for sunbathing, I just close them and the sun will go all the way across.”

Next, in the first of two videos by Bullfrog Spas, we see Justin L’Heureux — an action photographer — and his friend as they use a Bullfrog spa, beginning by setting the water temperature remotely via their android device using Bullfrog’s CloudControl application.

You can’t help but notice that even where there is a seaside home very close to the water, a hot tub offers something entirely different from a pool or beach: it’s a relaxing way to spend quality time with others, while tension ebbs away.

In the second video, Kate Nowlan, an entrepreneur, is a very active outdoor enthusiast who enjoys many activities. Not only is she careful about what she eats, she shares that she is also careful about how she recovers and relaxes after workouts. She loves using her hot tub at the end of the day, in her words: To relax, to recover and to rejuvenate.

Kate says she appreciates how she can target particular muscles and how frequently the water pulses hit them with Bullfrog’s JetPaks.

This spa was part of a much larger project that includes a vanishing edge pool, swim up/walk up bar, and outdoor kitchen. The homeowner said she didn’t need to travel anywhere. Her beautiful piece of Long Island has become to her more than a summer playground. “It’s a multi-seasonal resort worthy of today’s presidents,” she said. “It’s all ours to enjoy and share.”

(Note: In years past, before this backyard resort was done and owned by these homeowners, it is reported that President Nixon visited the home from time to time.)

This same vinyl-lined spa is also glorious at sunset and into the night hours. When sitting in the spa, the clients, family and friends can look across the vanishing edge pool to the ocean; the blaze of light on the water comes right up to the spa. (Before choosing a vinyl-lined spa, the wife tested what it would feel like by stepping into Long Island Hot Tub owner, Bill Renter’s vinyl spa and pool and said she liked vinyl’s smooth, soft feel.
