Owning a hot tub means special occasions can be celebrated at home — yet feel like escapes to vacation-land.

So with Mother’s Day this Sunday, there’s no better way to cater to Mom than planning the perfect at-home spa-cation she doesn’t have to travel to (or organize).

Celebrating Mother’s Day centered on the hot tub will give Mom private time for renewing and replenishing herself — including a real hydro-therapeutic treatment.

Best Hot Tub has some special tips for making Mom’s spa-cation memorable.

But before we get to our ideas, let’s address Sunday’s weather.

Outdoor Umbrella Can Be Helpful

Outdoor Umbrella Can Be Helpful

It’s highly possible Sunday will be rainy (in our neck of the woods at least).

Don’t let that deter you. Of course, if you have a moveable outdoor umbrella somewhere (or you have time to purchase or borrow one), you can position it so it covers at least part of the hot tub.

However, even if you can’t organize any protective cover, as long as there’s no thunder or lightening, your Bullfrog Spa can be enjoyed even when it’s raining.

Tip: If it’s raining, we recommend you do not remove your spa’s cover until Mom is heading to the hot tub. This will ensure the balance of the hot tub’s pH chemicals will be unaffected by the rain.

Hot Tub Cover: If you see clouds gathering on Mother’s Day, keep your hot cover on until the last minute before mom steps in.

1. Ban Cell Phones:

One treat for Mother’s Day is having the whole family join her in the hot tub after she’s had some alone time. Just make sure there are no cell phones. Let all the attention be on mom and her special day.

2. Plan for Some Munchies and Drinks

Whether your plans are for Mom soaking solo, a romantic hot tub date with Dad, or the whole family joining in, it’s always great to have some munchies and drinks in easy reach.

Tip: We discovered these inflatable trays online. (There may still be time to buy one). We’re told it has good carry-handles; will float in the hot tub, or a weight can be used to anchor it.

Just be sure that the snacks you fill it with are finger foods. You don’t want Mom struggling with utensils while immersed in bubbling spa water.

3. Plan a Real Spa-cation

Special gifts for Mother’s Day:

Perhaps Dad could get Mom a new bathing suit for her hot tub Mother’s Day spa-cation. Maybe the kids could pick out some accessories to go with it — like a new hat and sun glasses.

4. Since you can’t have too many robes, Mom would also appreciate a Turkish cotton robe. These are absorbent and comfortable — yet often reasonably priced.

As promised. Scrumptious-sounding Mother’s Day breakfast idea.

Moms will love ‘breakfast in the hot tub’ instead of ‘in bed.’ And here’s an easy way to turn a breakfast favorite into finger food.

Just prepare any favorite French Toast recipe your Mom loves, cut the toast into sticks, dust the pieces with confectioner’s sugar and add a few fresh blueberries. (Maybe stay away from syrup for a hot tub brunch to avoid sticky fingers.)

If you’d like a special recipe instead of a familiar family one, we found a scrumptious-sounding one on The Harried Housewife blog. Here’s a link to her Blueberry French Toast Sticks pictured here.

A happy Mother’s Day to all!
