As of today, Long Island, New York, weather on Saturday should be great. For racing enthusiasts, this means that the Belmont Park’s track should be firm — leaving the only open track question: can Justify handle the Park’s tiring surface (nicknamed the “Big Sandy”) and pull out a Triple Crown win?

This terrific weather report (70 degrees, only occasional clouds) also means all across Long Island and her environs, Saturday should be ideal to get together with friends.

The upshot? Saturday should be the perfect day for a Triple Crown Hot Tub Party. The opportunity for guests to spend time Immersed in its warm bubbly spa water is quite an enticement.  (Note: Upstate New York may have some rain on Saturday. That shouldn’t deter hot tub party enthusiasts. Most people enjoy a little weather when they are hot tubbing.)

Aw. You may be thinking. I don’t have a hot tub. No problem. You can host an “off to the races” event, even if you don’t own a spa.

The Hot Tub.

If you don’t have one already — or, you would like to host a larger hot tub party than your one spa will accommodate — consider renting one (or more).

(For further information on this, contact our showrooms in Westbury, Farmingdale, or Windham, NY.)

Bullfrog Spa With Pristine Water

Clean Hot Tub Water.

Whenever guests will be using your hot tub, it’s a good idea to shock the water the day before the party, and once again just before they arrive. This will ensure your water will be pristine. Just before they arrive is also the perfect time to add any spa scents.

(Of course, if you’d like one of our techs to stop by to check on your water or give your hot tub a thorough cleaning, Best Hot Tubs can do that, too.)

Gorgeous White Carnations

Gorgeous White Carnations

The Triple Crown race, a.k.a., the Belmont Stakes, is sometimes called the ‘run for the carnations.’

That’s because the winning horse is draped in a blanket of white carnations.

So there’s plenty of time to switch out any potted plants you might have around your hot tub with these delightful beauties.

Dress

Your party invitations should include a reminder to bring a bathing suit (and towels if you’re not included to wash a load of towels after).

But the fun part is how you want everyone to dress.

Ideas: As you may know, horse racing has been called the “sport of Kings.” And since the glow of the recent royal wedding in England is still lingering, how about a Crown and Tiara hot tub party.

Another option is simply “sport casual’ with baseball caps all around. These will help keep everyone’s head dry should someone’s turn in the hot tub be met with unexpected showers.

It’s your party. You get to decide.

Drinks!

According to the Belmont Stakes website, they have named their signature drink the ‘Belmont Jewel.’ Here’s their posted recipe:

Belmont Jewel Cocktail

Belmont Jewel Cocktail

1.5 oz Knob Creek Bourbon

2 oz lemonade

1 oz pomegranate juice

Add all ingredients into a shaker with ice and serve in a rocks glass or signature Belmont Stakes glass. I made a test run of the Belmont Jewel the other day using these great horse-themed rocks glasses from Crate and Barrel, aren’t these great? (They are currently on clearance if you’d like to buy them, so hurry!)

Food

One way to ensure you enjoy the racing party is to keep it simple.

Note: When in and around the hot tub, it’s always a good idea to serve easy-to-eat finger food.

So how about putting some of New York’s Famous Nathan’s Franks on the barbecue? Fun fact. Did you know that FDR served King George VI hot dogs on his state visit to the U.S.?

Of course, you can always feel English enough with individual English Muffins turned into Brooklyn-style pizzas — all followed by mini New York Cheesecake desserts.

You can also opt to roast marshmallows over a fire pit when the the air gets cooler in the evening.

Above all, have fun…and consider leaving all the betting to experts. For as the British joke goes:

Question. Why did God create race horses?

Answer. To keep man humble.
